Highlights and Features of Ngong Ping 360

The Ngong Ping cable car is one of the three cable car systems in Hong Kong. It is the longest cable car system in the world and takes 24 to 30 minutes to finish the 5.7km cable car trip, depending on weather conditions. The system cost 7.5 billion dollars and took two years to build. It connects the Tung Chung MTR station and the Po Lin Monastery. There are two types of cable car: the standard cable car can carry 17 passengers. The crystal cabin has a transparent glass floor that offers a bird eye's view to an extraordinary uncluttered landscape that's very rare in Hong Kong.

Located next to the Ngong Ping cable car station is the Ngong Ping Village, a traditional Chinese themed shopping district. You will be able to see the traditional Chinese architect and experience the life in an ancient Chinese village. There are two main attractions in the village - “walking with Buddha” and “monkey's tale theatre”. Street performers feature Kung Fu, Chinese Opera and juggling daily. The Lion Dance is performed on holidays like Chinese New Year and Buddha’s Birthday and you can also find a wide selection of cultural souvenirs and vintage Chinese art in the retail shops. The dining court provides Chinese food like dim sum, noodle soup and others.

Good to Know

A typical trip will include a cable car round trip to Ngong Ping village, Po Lin Monastery and the Giant Buddha. However you can also take the bus from Po Lin Monastery to Tai O Fishing Village and then take the Ferry back to Central. There is also a 3.5 hours culture and heritage tour that includes a cable car round trip and guide service for Po Lin Monastery, Giant Buddha, Tai O Fishing Village which you can take at the Tung Chung cable car terminal.

Ngong Ping Village
Occupying 1.5 hectares adjacent to Lantau's Big Buddha, the village is designed to reflect local culture and spirituality. A variety of tempting eastern and western dining, delicacies and souvenirs are also available here.

NP Skyrail
A 5.7 km cableway sends gondolas sailing for 25 minutes through the air between MTR Tung Chung terminal and Ngong Ping 360, situated just five minutes away from the bronze Tian Tan Big Buddha statue on Lantau Island. Enjoy one of the best panoramic views in Hong Kong! A return trip costs HK$88 for adults and HK$45 for children.

NP Tea House
Indulge yourself in some fine teas and cakes in an atmospheric Chinese garden. Demonstrations of traditional tea ceremonies will leave you eager for more of NP360's tempting treats.

The Monkey's Tale Theatre
Have some fun with this comical animated presentation suitable for all ages and set in a courtyard under a Bodhi tree. The story of three monkey friends on a voyage of greed, gluttony and friendship is sure to amuse and inspire.

Walking with Buddha
Learn about the life of Siddhartha Gautama (Buddha) through this multimedia experience. Seven scenes correspond with each stage of his journey to enlightenment.
