  • Cé La Vi Hong Kong

Rooftop Club and Restaurant in Central

    0

Cé La Vi Hong Kong opened in August 2015 to a storm of attention. This sophisticated venue combines a nightclub, restaurant and al fresco cocktail bar, offering a full-on night out for Hong Kong’s socialites and party set. This famous nightlife brand (formerly Ku De Ta until legal issues in early 2015) has a growing collection of high-profile venues spread out across Southeast Asia – from Singapore, to Bangkok and now Hong Kong – with several signature touches that sets Cé La Vi above the competition.

The iconic red parasols are still here, as is the Japanese-influenced cuisine and outstanding cocktails courtesy of prodigal Swedish mixologist Knut Randhem. Another element characteristic of the Cé La Vi brand is rooftop terraces and Hong Kong is no different. The 360-degree view from the 25th-floor rooftop bar offers spectacular views of Central and the surrounding area. Indeed, there’s something about stunning cityscapes and Cé La Vi that just go together. Located on the top three floors of California Tower in the nightlife heartland of Lan Kwai Fong, Cé La Vi is just a couple of minutes’ walk from Central MTR Station.

  • Club Lounge

In the Club Lounge, the music policy is a tried-and-tested mix of styles to keep everyone happy. On Fridays, expect party pop and big room anthems, while Saturdays are reserved for house music, and tracks with a bit more bass. Wednesdays are ladies nights at Cé La Vi Hong Kong so pop down for free bubbles, plus the opportunity to win a luxury gift such as a Gucci clutch or a genuine brand-name jewellery.

    Cé La Vi Restaurant

The restaurant takes stylish execution to a new level with gorgeously presented dishes that thankfully taste great too. Expect the finest wagyu A5, fresh cuts of tuna belly and other delicacies such as Alaskan king crab and prime short rib served with teriyaki veal jus. Serving up sweet treats, Jason Licker is a pastry chef extraordinaire and has developed menus for each of the Cé La Vi/Ku De Ta branches, so do save room for special treats such as deconstructed mango pudding with shiso flowers or his Iron Chef-winning strawberry consommé with udon noodles – you’ve got to try it so see how perfectly balanced the chewy udon and clean fruit combine. The wine list is also among the most adventurous we have found in Hong Kong, with some obscure and boutique wines that you are unlikely to find elsewhere.

    Skybar

The Skybar section at Cé La Vi is styled after a tropical garden and is more of a party spot than most other rooftops in Hong Kong. Certainly, this is one of the best rooftops for mixing and mingling with a very well-groomed clientele. From the signature cocktail menu, we recommend a new take on an old classic called Bloody Old Fashioned, made with Michter’s rye bourbon, chilli, cashew syrup and blood orange (HK$148). I’d go as far to say it’s the best Old Fashioned I’ve tasted in Hong Kong.

Watching the mixologists at work in Cé La Vi is a sight to behold: egg whites frothing in the blender, herbs and fruits being pulped or diced, and a whole lot of shaking – it’s a little bit of theatre that makes the preparation time more bearable. It’s also worth heading to Cé La Vi a little earlier to check out their Sundowner Sessions (weekdays 16:00 to 19:00) with chilled lounge house music and cocktails starting from HK$48.
