Magnum Club, located in Hong Kong’s central party district of Lan Kwai Fong, is one of the most famous and exclusive clubs in town. Spread across 13,000-square-feet and two levels, Magnum Club certainly doesn’t do things by half. Fifty million Hong Kong dollars have been invested to make the place shine, so expect plenty of lavish interior designs, over-the-top installations (such as the giant chandelier over the dancefloor or even the Swarovski crystal DJ booth) and a state-of-the-art sound and lighting system.
Being one of the most prominent and largest clubs in Hong Kong’s epicentre of late night action, Magnum Club HK inevitably welcomes a mixed bag. Tourists hitting the town for the first time party the night away alongside affluent locals, expats, business men and dressed-up ladies coming to be seen at their best.
Magnum Club’s music policy follows in line with the commercialisation of the whole area, with resident DJs spinning dance-oriented top 40 favourites and pop remixes. This party institution also welcomes guest international DJs and artists, and is a well-known celebrity hangout for Hong Kong A-listers.
The central DJ booth overlooks the main dancefloor, and the walls and ceiling have been decked-out in cool LED panels, which change colour and are programmed with the tempo of the music. Throw in smoke and laser beams, and the result is pretty impressive. There’s a main circular bar in the middle and another upstairs, but be warned: unless you reserve a VIP table, getting the bar tender’s attention when it’s busy can take a while!
As for what to order, those on a slightly more relaxed budget usually opt for a bottle of vodka, whiskey or even Champagne, and share amongst friends. Do note that to secure a table for the night, three bottles of liquor can set you back well over HK$1,000. Cocktails are another drink of choice at Magnum Club, as they’ve recently teamed up with French mixologist Bob Louison to bring a long list of signature drinks to the club.
Find Magnum Club Hong Kong a short walk from the busy Central MTR station in Silver Fortune Plaza, just one block away from Lan Kwai Fong. The club is open six day-a-week (closed Monday) and expect a varying cover charge of around $HK300 to get in.
